President's orders will have little impact locally

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — President Barack Obama signed 23 executive actions Wednesday, many of which deal with gun control.

Some of the key changes, such as requiring criminal background checks, banning military-style assault weapons and limiting ammunition, are already law in California.

Many believe that the new federal measures either address or revisit issues that warrant attention, but some aren’t sure how they will be enforced.

Alex Bowman, the assistant manager at 2nd Amendment Sports, said he believes some of these new measures may be infringing on the rights of Americans.

“You’re telling people what they can and cannot possess, based on illegal actions performed by criminals, not legal actions performed by law abiding gun owners," said Bowman.

But, everyone agrees the past month of gun debate has sparked an increase in gun sales.
