Possible reward offered after Shafter man shot, robbed

SHAFTER, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) - A Shafter man was shot, beaten and bound during a robbery Sunday night, the Kern County Sheriff's Office said.

The victim, whose name was withheld, told investigators that he was in his yard chopping wood around 8 p.m. when three men approached him. They wore ski masks, and one had a gun, he said.

The victim was ordered to the ground. As the victim stumbled backwards, one of the robbers fired three shots. One of the bullets grazed the victim's hip.

After hitting the suspect, bounding him with tape and dragging him inside, the robbers took off with a TV, air compressor and wallet filled with money, the sheriff's office said.

Anyone with information on the names or locations of the assailants is asked to call sheriff's Sgt. Marc Haiungs at (661) 599-0157. The public can also call the Secret Witness Program at 322-4040 or send a text to TIP-411 (847411), with "KCSO" before the message.

The Secret Witness Program might offer a reward of as much as $5,000 for information in this case, the sheriff's office said.
