Police think bank robberies connected

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Police said Wednesday that they believe bank robberies from Nov. 2 and Sept. 7 are connected.

Detectives are "investigating several similarities between the two offenses," police said in a news release.

The first robbery was at Chase bank, 2680 Mount Vernon Ave. The man, seen in surveillance photos wearing a hooded shirt and blue bandana covering his face, used a gun during the robbery. He drove off in a charcoal gray car, possibly a Volkswagen Passat.

The second robbery occurred at Chase bank, 4040 California Ave. The robber also used a gun and wore similar clothing.

Anyone with information helpful to either investigation is asked to call Detective Matt Hilliard at (661) 326-3501 or the Secret Witness line at 322-4040.
