Bakersfield police on the hunt for rapist

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A violent rapist is on the loose, police say.

Parolee Daniel Leon Smith allegedly disabled his GPS tracking ankle monitor, and his whereabouts are unknown.

Smith was convicted of rape, sodomy and oral copulation by force or fear.

His last known address was an apartment at 1009 Collins Way in Bakersfield, according to the state's online registry of sex offenders.

Anyone who sees Smith, who is 5-foot-10 and 290 pounds, is asked to call police at (661) 327-7111.
