BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- A man was arrested for shooting a woman in the face Saturday afternoon, police said.
The woman is listed as in stable condition at Kern Medical Center.
Police went out to a reported shooting at 1712 Clarke Ave. at around 3:40 p.m. Saturday.
Upon arrival, officers said they found a woman inside the house with a gunshot wound to the face. They also found a little girl who was at home when the shooting occurred; officials said she was unharmed.
Police said that the woman was shot in the entryway to the house through a screen door.
The still-conscious woman told police that she knew the shooter and identified him as 50-year-old Jerome Wilson, officials said.
Police said the woman was taken to Kern Medical Center where she is in stable condition.
The investigation lead police to the America's Best Value Inn on Oak Street, where police arrested Wilson without incident.
Police said that they may have found the gun that was used in the shooting during their investigation.
Wilson was booked at the Kern County Jail for attempted homicide and child endangerment.
Police are still looking for a motive in the shooting.
