Police: Public helps ID man seen in video of car burglary

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A day after releasing video of a suspected vehicle burglary, police say they've identified the culprit.

William Kang, 50, is accused of busting a window of a car in the parking lot of In-Shape fitness club on White Lane. A witness took video of a man reaching into a car, allegedly to steal something, March 20.

Police said they got help from the community in identifying the man in the video, which they released for the public Thursday.

Kang is also suspected in a residential burglary March 25 on Marazion Hill Court, near Buena Vista Road and Chamber Boulevard. There is also an outstanding warrant for Kang for parole violation.

Anyone who sees Kang is asked to call Detective Dennis Murphy at (661) 326-3567.
