TULARE, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A 30-year-old man was hit and killed while walking across Highway 99 in Tulare early Sunday, and the car that hit him was identified by the California Highway Patrol as being driven by a Bakersfield man.
The crash happened around 3:35 a.m. as 30-year-old Juan Garcia of Bakersfield was southbound on Highway 99 near Merritt Drive. California Highway Patrol investigators said Garcia was not able to avoid the man who stepped in front of his Chevy on the freeway.
