CHP: Passenger on motorcycle killed in DUI crash

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A 29-year-old man who was a passenger on a motorcycle that crashed into a guardrail Saturday night north of Taft has been identified as Christopher Dross of Bakersfield.

California Highway Patrol investigators said the bike's driver, 29-year-old Ronald Marshall Jr., of Taft, was arrested for being under the influence of alcohol.

The crash happened around 10:15 p.m.

Marshall was westbound on Taft Highway when he veered the Suzuki GSXR 750 to the right, east of Midway Road, and hit the guardrail.

"The collision caused the rear passenger to be ejected and collided with the metal guardrail and ground sustaining fatal injuries," the CHP said in a news release.
