BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A highway construction project will force the closure of a Panama Lane off-ramp from Wednesday through next Wednesday, Nov. 20.
Caltrans says the Highway 99 auxiliary lane and widening project will keep the southbound off-ramp to Panama Lane closed 24 hours a day during this period.
Motorists will need to use an alternative route.
The $33 million project will convert the highway from six lanes to eight lanes from State Route 119 (south point of project) to the Wilson Road overcrossing (north point of project, near Valley Plaza Mall).
The project will add a 12-foot lane and 10-foot inside shoulder in each direction. Roadwork should be complete by fall 2014, according to Caltrans.
