PG&E preps for winter storm
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) - PG&E spent Friday grooming, removing and trimming trees around Bakersfield.

A chance for rain, strong winds and possible snow has the power company preparing for possible power outages.

PG&E Spokeswoman Katie Allen says 13% of outages are caused by vegetation.

The company has tree crews working year-round to help minimize tree-related outages during a big storm.

This morning crews trimmed a tree along South H Street in Southeast Bakersfield.

“We hopefully utilize those techniques to reduce the hazards in certain areas and move forward,” said Allen.

If customers experience a power outage, they should call PG&E's outage information line at 1-800-PGE-5002 to report the outage.

If you do lose power PG&E has some tips on how to prepare:
-Have flashlights ready.
-Keep your thermostat set at 68º F during the day, and 55º at night.
-Close your drapes, blinds and shades at night to help retain heat.
