No charges in deadly bar fight

TAFT, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) - Prosecutors won't charge a man in a deadly bar fight.

Police said Billy Joe Burell Jr. was fighting July 5 in front of Buckolies Bar when he was pushed, fell back and hit his head on the asphalt roadway. Burell was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Police arrested Lyndon Faagu.

A member of the Kern County District Attorney's Office said Wednesday that they believe Faagu had no intent to kill Burell.

The prosecutor also said witnesses claimed Burell started the fight.

The criminal pasts of both men were also taken into account, the prosecutor said.
