BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Powerball, a multistate mega-jackpot lottery game, is coming to California next week.

The California Lottery will begin selling $2 tickets for Powerball on Monday, April 8. The first Powerball draw to include California players will be Wednesday, April 10.

Powerball will not be taking the place of SuperLOTTO Plus or MEGA Millions, the California Lottery said.

Powerball jackpots start at $40 million. If there are no grand prize winners, the jackpot will increase at a minimum of $10 million per roll, according to the Lottery.

Revenue from the game will help supplement public education budgets in California.

Powerball is already played in 42 States, Washington D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
