McFarland police make arrest after stabbing

McFARLAND, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) - A man was arrested on suspicion of stabbing someone and for an unrelated burglary, according to police.

Officers from McFarland launched their investigation Wednesday night after getting a call about a man with multiple stab wounds who turned up at Delano Regional Medical Center. The man had been stabbed in the neck and back and was eventually transported to Kern Medical Center.

Police said their investigation revealed that the wounded man and his cousin were fighting with Jose Lopez, who did the stabbing.

Officers located Lopez, who they said admitted to the stabbing in self-defense.

Lopez was also arrested in an unrelated home burglary case. Police didn't say when or where that occurred.
