Amber Failla leaves her sentencing Tuesday, May 7, 2013, in Kern County court in Bakersfield, Calif., for unlawful sexual intercourse.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A teacher who had sexual encounters with students will serve three years formal probation.

Amber Failla was sentenced Tuesday in Kern County court after pleading no contest last month to one count of unlawful sexual intercourse. Multiple counts of oral copulation and contacting a minor with the intent to commit a sexual offense were dismissed.

Court documents obtained by Eyewitness News include an allegation that Failla, a California City High School math teacher, would send text messages to students one by one to come to her classroom between class times. Once there, Failla would orally pleasure the students, according to court papers.

Failla was also sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days already served.
