Man rescued after more than a week trapped in train car

TEHACHAPI, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Rescue crews believe a man had been stuck for about nine days in a train car before he was found and rescued Thursday in eastern Kern County.

County fire crews said the rail car was inside the CalPortland Co. cement facility near Tehachapi. Fire personnel used ladders and ropes to pull the man out of the top of an empty train car.

It's not clear how he got trapped inside or where he came from, crews said.

The victim's name and age aren't being released, yet. He was taken by ambulance to a hospital for more treatment.

The cement plant is off Oak Creek Road between Highway 14 and Tehachapi-Willow Springs Road.

Plant discovered the man and called authorities.
