Man killed by downed power line in Fullerton

FULLERTON, Calif. (AP) — Fullerton police say a homeless man has died after running a shopping cart over a downed power line.

It happened at about 4 p.m. Friday.

Sgt. Jeff Stuart tells City News Service that witnesses reported the man pushed the cart over the line.

Stuart says the man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name wasn't immediately released.

Electricity to the line was shut down and Southern California Edison crews were sent to make repairs.

The utility says more than 700 people were left without power.
