BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A jury returned a guilty verdict Wednesday against a man who killed his girlfriend in April 2011.

Officers arrived to a rented room on Niles Street and encountered 59-year-old Arturo Huerta, who had blood covering his arms and body. A 38-year-old woman, later identified as Acamea Coy, was found dead inside the home.

Kern County prosecutors said Wednesday that Huerta used broken glass to kill Coy.

Eyewitness News doesn't have information on a motive.

Huerta is scheduled for sentencing next month and faces more than 16 years in prison with the possibility of life behind bars.
