Man arrested with $40K in stolen beehives

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A man was arrested while in possession of about 256 stolen beehives valued at $40,000, the Kern County Sheriff's Office said Thursday.

Gabino Jordan Pena, 32, allegedly stole the beehives from United Honeybees.

The sheriff's office said its investigation began Jan. 18, though it didn't say when Pena was arrested.

Pena was booked into jail on suspicion of possession of stolen property, possession of stolen property with altered identification marks, and destruction of evidence.
