Man arrested in Taft for domestic violence

TAFT, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A man was arrested over the weekend in a domestic violence incident, the Kern County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday.

Michael Ray Hastings, 42, is accused of attacking a 47-year-old woman and pushing another person Saturday in south Taft.

The woman needed stitches to the inside and outside of her mouth, and suffered bruising and a possible concussion, the sheriff's office said.

Hastings also is accused of vandalizing a room in the house, and a stolen Kern County street sign was found. He also allegedly tried running from deputies.

Hastings was booked into jail on suspicion of inflicting corporal injury on a spouse/cohabitant, battery on a person, receiving stolen property and felony vandalism.
