Kern County jury finds gangsters guilty of murder

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A pair of reputed gangsters were convicted Wednesday of murder and attempted murder.

Kern County District Attorney Lisa Green said Thursday that Samuel Bryant and Joseph Jamal Hendrix were found guilty by a jury for the Feb. 16 shooting on the 3000 block of South Chester Avenue, during which Jacob Ramirez was killed and Manuel Gomez was wounded.

The prosecutor's office said Bryant and Hendrix carried out the shootings as members of the West Side Crips. Bryant was just 16 at the time.

Both men are scheduled for sentencing next month.
