Kern County deputies make torture, attempted murder arrest

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A 33-year-old man was arrested Friday on suspicion of attempted murder and torture, the Kern County Sheriff's Office said over the weekend.

Lucas Webby was arrested after deputies found him reportedly hiding in a bedroom closet at a home on the 400 block of Poplar Avenue. Webby resisted arrest but was taken into custody, the sheriff's office said.

Investigators believe Webby punched, kicked and strangled his victim over a two-day period. Deputies also found methamphetamine and marijuana during a search of Webby's home.

The sheriff's office termed the situation a case of "domestic violence" and didn't release additional information on Webby's motives or relationship with his alleged victim.
