Deputies: Robber met with gunfire inside Bakersfield home
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A resident shot an alleged robber Tuesday morning in east Bakersfield, according to the Kern County Sheriff's Office.
The resident heard someone remove a screen and break a kitchen window to gain access to his home, so the resident armed himself with a handgun, the sheriff's office said.
The suspect and resident came face to face in the hallway of the East Brundage Lane home, and the resident shot the suspect at least twice in the upper body.
The alleged intruder, 26-year-old Arturo Jose Luis Estrada, got out of the house and stumbled about a half block down the sidewalk before collapsing. That's where deputies found him.
Estrada is expected to survive and has been arrested on suspicion of first-degree robbery, the sheriff's office said.
The resident, whose name was withheld, was detained at the scene for questioning and released pending further investigation.
An unidentified woman was possibly involved in the alleged robbery, but she ran off before deputies arrived.

when some one breaks into your home shoot first then ask questions later with a negotiator (smith and wesson) well done!
Wow Arturo left in a hurry! Not real socialble.....maybe he could head back home where he belongs...
Nice! Good thing the 'resident' is in the Sheriffs jurisdiction. BPD would have him in jail as we type....
Good for "the Resident", that is your home and you have a right to protect yourself in it. Â Even in the Peoples Republic of Kalifornia (well, today anyway.)
If more people did this we would have less crime and fewer criminals.
Hell YES, this is my private domain, MY HOME, if you come in without permission.. you just may get shot.. Why would anyone ask such a question?
YESâ¦â¦If a person is invading your private residence you have no way of knowing what that person is capable of. Rape, murdering your child or you, or leaving you in a hospital with injuries that leaves you handy capped for the rest of your life!!Bakersfield just has an elderly woman savagely beaten then murdered from a home burglary that went wrong. If that lady had a weapon and was able to use it properly and she killed all that entered her home she would not be a victim today but a live person who defended her property. So which outcome would you rather see; that old women defending herself and killing the perpetrators and not being a victim or being alive to see her grandchildren grow up?? You decide what outcome you would prefer for yourself, then take a standâ¦..purchase a weapon learn how to use it then defend your rights to protect yourself!!!!!
Â
Thank God for 2nd amendment rights!
the moral of the story is that you should not break into people's homes.if you do, you should expect bad things to happen to you.
@redc1c4 The Moral if the story is you should use a large caliber weapon and they wont run off.
