BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Two young people were found guilty Wednesday of beating an 81-year-old woman to death during a home-invasion burglary.
A Kern County jury convicted David Moses, 20, and Katila Nash of first-degree murder charges. A mistrial was declared for a third defendant, Angelique Nash.
All three defendants were charged as adults, even though they were under 18 when Dorothy Session was murdered in April 2010. Katila Nash was 15 at the time of the killing.
Moses and the two Nashes were accused of using an unlocked back door in to break into Session's home on the 1500 block of Camino Sierra. They attacked Session during an attempted burglary.
The runaway teens were seen knocking on doors in the neighborhood before the attack. Authorities said that's a common tactic for burglars looking for targets, although nothing was stolen from Session's home.
Anyone who is under 18 when they commit a crime isn't eligible for the death penalty under California law. Because of special-circumstance charges, Moses and Nash could be sent to prison for the rest of their lives.
Sentencing is set for Oct. 25.
The Kern County District Attorney's office is considering whether to seek retrial of Angelique Nash.
I personally Know Katila Nash, And She is a very sweat, beautiful, Young lady that deserves another chance.. She didn't mean to hurt that poor lady.. I say FREE Katila Nash
@Jenae Lantae Really??? What about the family of Miss Session's they don't get to have a second chance with there mom , or grandma because of what Katila , and the other two did too her. I know the family of Miss Session's , and her  she did not deserve what they did too her.  She was a very Sweet lady that loved the Lord very much .
Chain them to death. They deserve it. Some liberal will probably flag this until it happens to their own family member.
Good, they deserve what they get. Â They kill that woman because, they needed money to buy marijuana

Well, at least these runaways have a home now, dont they?
That poor elderly woman. to have lived that long and then be killed in her own SAFE home that way. RIP.
I was feeling sympathy for the mother of the accused right up to the point where she described this murder as an ACCIDENT. Deliberately breaking into someone's home and then attacking them can be described as many things, but "accident" is definitely not one of them.
There are no words to describe how horrible i feel for all families involved, no one deserves to be killed in there own home, now there are 3 lives lost and another hangs in the balance. I don't see how a child can be tried or charged as an adult but only God knows what the future holds!!!
@tulipsrforever This is the new reverse discrimination thing.  Tulip is prejudiced against white people to the point that she diminishes any crimes agains white people perpetrated by black people.   You are prejudiced Tulip and you are openly showing your hatred of the white race.
@tulipsrforever There is only one thing wrong with your thinking here that needs to be addressed.  Only an animal will break into an 81 yr old womans home and beat her to death.  Children are not capable of this kind of thing.  No more excuses. Â
@tulipsrforever calling them children seems obtuse to me. Calling them human at all is a kindness. This was animalistic behavior to say the least, and the only way to be safe from people like this is to keep them in prison forever.
@tulipsrforever "A child?" you're kidding right? These "children" were young adults who definitely knew the difference between right and wrong-THEY TOOK A FREAKIN LIFE! This wasn't like they didn't know how to act socially at work or something-everybody knows it's wrong to kill from birth-they are Pieces of sh-t who only avoided the death penalty because of their age..personally I think these punks got off far too easy.
@tulipsrforever
Those three were âlostâ long before they committed their heinous crime. In the Ten Commandments murder was punishable with death! Â There was/is no age limit. That was Godâs law given to Moses to give to us! Those âlostâ souls got off leniently on Manâs Laws, Â I believe.
Â
Tis better to lock up wild animals to prevent them from doing further harm. And for the rest of their (bleeping) little miserable lives they get to relive what they did and regret they were ever born. Those crocodile tears was for them, not their victim.
Â
After they are finished here on earth, they get to answer to God for what they did once again and forever!
@tulipsrforever I feel absolutely NO SORROW for these three trashy "children". By the time you reach a certain age, you know right from wrong. They knew their actions were WRONG. Beating an innocent 81 year old woman. What if that was their grandmother? This was no accident. They went looking to do harm and they did it. Now they deserve to pay for their crime. Mr. Moses looks like he could care less. His he-man tats really show what he thinks of himself. Ms. Nash has the boo-hoos. Bet she wasn't crying when they were pounding on Ms. Sessions. My only sorrow knowing they might get back out into society.
@tulipsrforever a life sentence only means that you have to serve 25 years, but theyre fine with you dying in prison. its far life without parole, where the convicted is in custody for the remainder of their life
