Huntington Beach police kill man who pulled fake gun

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (AP) — Huntington Beach police have shot and killed a man authorities say pulled a fake gun on an officer.

The Orange County Register says police got a call at around 4:30 p.m. Thursday from someone who said a man had threatened him with a handgun.

Lt. Mitch O'Brien says an officer confronted the suspect on a street and shot him when the man pulled what appeared to be a handgun from his waistband. It was later determined to be a replica of a semiautomatic pistol.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name hasn't been released.
