Hidden Cash social experiment comes to Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Hidden Cash has hit Bakersfield. The man behind the Twitter handle @HiddenCash sent word he hid five envelopes filled with money at Centennial Park.

The movement started in San Francisco but has spread to other California cities, including San Jose, Burbank and most recently Los Angeles.

In a statement to Eyewitness News, the man behind Hidden Cash said: "It was kind of a spontaneous decision to come to Bakersfield. I was driving from L.A. back home to the Bay Area and saw that I was pretty close to Bakersfield. I looked up and was surprised to see it has 350 thousand or so residents... I decided to show this big but overlooked city some love... If I get positive feedback, we will be back in Bakersfield and in other cities in the Central Valley."
