BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) -- A man who crashed his Nissan Sentra into a fire hydrant has been arrested by Bakersfield police on suspicion of driving under the influence.
The crash happened around 6:30 p.m. Monday on Hughes Lane. The driver was southbound on Hughes from White Lane according to Sgt. Bill Ware. Witnesses said the car was speeding and the driver lost control when it crested over the railroad tracks. The car then smashed into a fire hydrant and rolled over.
A passenger in the car was injured and taken by ambulance to a hospital. The driver was later arrested and faces DUI charges. He was identified as 21-year-old Jorge Fuentes.
