Gang member guilty in Bakersfield party shooting

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) - A gang member was convicted Thursday of second-degree murder for a party shooting in January.

The Kern County District Attorney's Office said 21-year-old Ismael Arcenio Leon was at a party when a fight broke out. He shot Javier Meraz at least twice, according to prosecutors.

Sentencing is set for next month, and Leon faces as much as life in prison with the possibility of parole.
