Foothill High School locked down after nearby carjacking
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Authorities were on the hunt for carjackers after finding their stolen car abandoned Monday afternoon, prompting an after-hours lockdown at Foothill High School.

The Toyota Camry was reportedly taken around 3 p.m. at Breckenridge Road and Morning Drive. The culprits were armed with a rifle, the Kern County Sheriff's Office said.

The stolen car was found soon after at nearby Foothill High School, which had already let out for the day. The school was placed on lockdown, impacting only staff and students there for after-school activities.

A sheriff's air unit and Bakersfield police were called in to assist in the search for the carjacking suspects.
