LEBEC, Calif. - The hills next to Interstate Five were on fire Saturday. The Kern County Fire Department says a fire near Lebec had spread into the brush and grass on the west side of I-5 into very steep terrain. 30 Kern County firefighters along with about 35 firefighters from Cal-Fire worked the fire. In total 14.3 acres were burned before crews extinguished the blaze. No structures were damaged and there were no injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation. This is an important reminder that fire season is on it's way, so make sure you clear your brush before the June 15-Th deadline.
