Federal inmate walks away from Taft prison

TAFT, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Authorities are hunting for an inmate who escaped from the Taft Correctional Institution Satellite Camp.

Andres Flores, 33, was discovered missing during an inmate count Thursday night, according to the prison. Flores was set for release in 2020 for a June conviction of dealing methamphetamine and money laundering.

Taft Correctional Institution has no fence, which is common for a minimum-security facility within the federal prison system.

Anyone who sees Flores, who hails from Los Angeles, is asked to call Taft Correctional Institution at (661) 763-2510, or any law enforcement agency.
