BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The city of Bakersfield Public Works Department has decided to remove a bothersome “right-turn only” sign from the corner of Panama Lane and Rutland Way after Eyewitness News called with several complaints from area residents.

The sign led drivers on a 2-mile diversion in order to access the freeway, which is only a short distance if a left-turn is allowed.

They say the sign was in place due to outdated traffic analysis requiring limited road access to the development.

After receiving our call, the city decided traffic had decreased to just 7,000 cars per day, making left turns permissible. They say the sign will be taken down within two weeks.
