Shafter - festivities start at 6 p.m.; fireworks start at 8:45 p.m.; high school football field, 526 Mannel Ave.; free, but food available for purchase

Buttonwillow - games and other festivities start at 6:30 p.m.; fireworks at 8:50 p.m.; elementary school, 42600 Highway 58; free

McFarland - activities for kids, music, food and fireworks; gates open at 5 p.m.; high school football field, 259 Sherwood Ave.; $3 adults, $2 kids

Delano - Kiwanis Club hosts Star Spangled Spectacular; dusk at the north end of the Delano Airport

Wednesday, July 4

Bakersfield - The Fourth at River Walk; live music, food vendors, activities for kids; 2-9 p.m.; Bright House Networks Amphitheatre, 11200 Stockdale Highway; free

Bakersfield - Blaze baseball; fireworks follow game against Stockton Ports; game starts at 7:45 p.m.; Sam Lynn Ballpark, 4009 Chester Ave.; $7 to $12

Tehachapi - symphony music and fireworks; gates open at 4 p.m.; fireworks at 9 p.m.; Coy Burnett Stadium, Tehachapi Blvd.; free

Tehachapi - rodeo at 6 p.m.; fireworks at 9 p.m.; Tehachapi Events Center, Dennison Road; parking $5; tickets $12 to $15

Ridgecrest - food vendors, beer garden and fireworks; 5:30 p.m.; Desert Empire Fairgounds, 520 S Richmond Road
