Early morning crash with big rig claims life of Bakersfield man

TAFT, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A 26-year-old Bakersfield man was killed early Saturday after pulling his car directly into the path of an oncoming big rig.

Highway patrol investigators said the big rig driver swerved in an attempt to avoid the crash with the 1991 Honda Accord, but still ended up hitting the car head-on.

The collision happened at approximately 3:48 a.m. on Highway 119, just east of Highway 43.

The big rig driver from San Fernando was not hurt. The dead man was identified by coroner's investigators as George Hall.
