LAMONT, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) - A baby girl is fighting for her life, suffering from a rare disease.
Adelene Martinez, of Lamont, was recently diagnosed with medula osea, or a cancer of the bone marrow.
The 18-month-old's father, Augustine Ramirez, recalls the weeks leading up to her diagnosis.
"She started walking as if she was tired and then would fall down," Ramirez says.
Adelene is currently at Children's Hospital Central California in Madera with her mother, waiting for a possible bone marrow match.
Hundreds of people from throughout Kern County made their way to Lamont's St. Augustine Church on Sunday to find out if they could possibly be a match for Adelene.
The registry event was put on by Be The Match, the world's largest marrow registry.
"Without a match, my baby could die" Ramirez says.
