Deputies shoot man following chase in Wasco

WASCO, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) - Kern County deputies shot a man in Wasco early Saturday morning, after they say the suspect fired at them during a pursuit.
Ray Pruitt of the sheriff's department says deputies tried to pull over a car on Highway 43 just after 2 a.m. The driver eventually pulled over on Filburn Avenue, and that's when deputies say a passenger, identified as 29-year-old Jose Alfred Garcia, got out and ran.
Deputies chased Garcia and say he fired several shots at them. Two deputies fired back, hitting him several times. Garcia was hospitalized in reported critical condition. Deputies say he's facing charges of attempted murder of a peace officer.
The driver of the car, 27-year-old William Ortiz, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine. A woman who was also in the car was questioned by deputies and released.
The deputies involved in the shooting have been identified as Deputy Steve Vasquez and Deputy Cody Johnson. Both have been put on administrative leave while the shooting is reviewed.

If the suspect did indeed do what the officers have claimed... Just take him into a back alley somewhere and shoot him in the back of the head...
"Â Deputies chased Garcia, and say he fired several shots at them. Â Deputies say he's facing charges including attempted murder of a peace officer."
If Garcia worked for the LAPD, he could say it was a case of mistaken identity. Â But only if he fired 40+ times at a newspaper delivery lady.
