BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Fire crews have gained the upper hand on a fire near Interstate 5 and Grapevine Road that burned 350 acres over the weekend in southern Kern County, fire officials said.

The Grapevine Fire was 100 percent contained Monday morning. Sunday, fire crews had the eastern flank of the wildfire well taken care of and were removing the fuel sources near I-5.

Firefighters and engines from Kern County Fire, Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Forest Service are fighting the fire. The crews used two helicopters, a fixed-wing plane and three bulldozers to help battle the blaze near the Lebec area.

The fire erupted Saturday afternoon. No buildings burned, and no injuries were reported.
