Court Appointed Special Advocates celebrate new class Thursday night

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A new class of Court Appointed Special Advocates will graduate Thursday night in downtown Bakersfield.

CASA volunteers are appointed by the juvenile court judge to assess the current circumstances of a child going through the court system, report their findings and speak on the child's behalf in court. Their slogan: "Stand up for children, so they'll stand a chance."

Graduation for the CASA representatives, who have already volunteered hours of their time for training, will be 6:30 p.m. at the Kern County Superintendent of Schools building, 1300 17th St.
