BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Planning for the Centennial Corridor has been going on for years, but Tuesday morning, Kern County supervisors gave a vote of confidence to put it one step closer to the finish.

Retired congressman Bill Thomas was front and center at the Board of Supervisors meeting. Thomas was hoping to gain the support of county supervisors for the Route B alignment of the Centennial Corridor project.

“It was the best one available," Thomas said.

Alternative B would take an extension of Highway 58 west from Highway 99 for about one-half mile along the south side of Stockdale Highway before turning northwest and connecting to the Westside Parkway just east of Mohawk Street.
