Cooling centers open
As temperatures soared past triple digits designated cooling centers opened across Kern County.

The Mission at Kern County representatives said they want to provide a safe, cool environment where our guests and neighbors can find relief from extreme temperatures.

"We are a place of refuge from the extreme conditions a Bakersfield summer brings," said Carlos Baldovinos Executive Director.

Water stations were also set up throughout Old Town Kern.

Across Kern County cooling centers open to protect senior citizens and others at risk from heat.
