Child visitation goes awry, father in-law stabbed

ARVIN, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) -- An Arvin grandfather was hospitalized late Friday after a planned custody visit for the mother of his grandchildren went awry.

Arvin police are investigating the incident that took place in a parking lot just after 10:30 p.m. at 663 Comanche Dr.

Police said 51-year-old Augustin Sandoval told them he was attacked after Maria Marcos showed up to visit her children accompanied by 21-year-old Aaron Vasquez. Sandoval said when he told Vasquez he didn't want him around, Vasquez got a sharp weapon from his vehicle and attacked him with it. Marcos and Vasquez then left the area.

Sandoval was later hospitalized for a cut over his right rib cage and a puncture wound to his right bicep.
