Car show raises money for Make-A-Wish kids

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Make-A-Wish of Central California is helping local children with life-threatening conditions by making their dreams come true.

Saturday's 11th annual Cruisin' for a Wish Car and Motorcycle Show at the Kern County Fairgrounds will help grant more of these very special wishes.

At first glance, it looked like a bunch of cool classic cars and choppers at the fairgrounds. But, behind the nostalgia was a deeper meaning: raising money for Make-A-Wish children.

Dylan Brice, 10, who was diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer, had his dream come true last August when Make-A-Wish sent his entire family on a Disney Cruise.

Dylan said they had most of the Disney characters on the ship, and he got to meet Mickey, Goofy, Pluto and Donald.

"The Make-A-Wish trip was the most memorable one we will ever have, no topping that trip of enjoyment," said mother Danielle Tucker.

Organizers of the weekend car show said in the past 11 years, the event has raised more than $200,000 for the local Make-A-Wish chapter.

About 35-40 kids get their wish granted each year in Kern County.
