CALIFORNIA CITY, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Police said Saturday that a burglar has been sentenced to a year in jail after accepting a plea bargain with the Kern County District Attorney's Office.

Calvin Billups was carrying stolen items when he was contacted by officers Sept. 8. The California City Police Department said witnesses reported seeing Billups leaving a property on Columbine Avenue with the stolen items. One witnesses even recorded Billups on cellphone video.

Billups took the plea deal Friday, police said. He'll serve three years probation after serving his jail time.

Billups was already on probation for a previous crime, police said.
