BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — 'Tis the season for collecting toys for kids in need.
The Bakersfield office of the California Highway Patrol will begin its CHiPs for KiDs Toy Drive on Monday, running until Dec. 16.
New unwrapped toys are wanted for disadvantaged and hospitalized children up to 16 years of age, the CHP said.
Toys can be dropped off anytime at the CHP Office on Buck Owens Boulevard, the Motor City car dealership in the auto mall, The Bakersfield Californian or the United Way.
Toy collection events will be held 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Dec. 6 at Motor City, 3101 Pacheco Road, and 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 12 at the newspaper, 1707 Eye St. Free hot chocolate, coffee, food and candy canes will be available at the collection events.
