Burglar who took girl photos pleads no contest
Brian Contreras appears Monday, June 18, 2012, in Kern County court, accused of burglary and taking photos of sleeping girls during a break-in.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A man accused of breaking into homes and taking photos with sleeping girls has pleaded no contest to a pair of felonies.

Brian Contreras pleaded Tuesday in Kern County court to a count of lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 years and a count of first-degree burglary. Five additional charges were dropped in the deal with prosecutors, according to court records.

Contreras was arrested in June in south Bakersfield. He was spotted trying to break into a pair of homes on Kyner Avenue. One teenage girl reportedly awoke to find Contreras standing over her.

After he was caught, police found photos on Contreras' cellphone that seemed to show him posing with sleeping girls during an earlier break-in.
