Local man shot by stray bullet at Patriots Park

A man was shot by a stray bullet while walking with his son through Patriots Park Friday evening.

 

Gerald Mitchell, 57, was spending the evening with his 13 year old son and another child at the local park when they witnessed an argument between two groups of males.  A gunshot was fired by one of the individuals in the group, which stuck Mr. Mitchell in the chest. 

After the gunshots were fired the suspects fled the scene, and have not been located.

The Bakersfield Police Department states that Mitchell or any of the juvenile’s were involved in the argument, nor were they the targets of the gunfire.

Mitchell received moderate injuries and was transported to the hospital and is in stable condition.
