BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The Bank of the Sierra in northeast Bakersfield was robbed Tuesday afternoon.

The culprit threatened the teller with claims of having a weapon and demanded money. He ran from the branch at Mt. Vernon Avenue and Bernard Street with an undisclosed amount of cash.

No weapon was seen, according to police.

The robber was described as a white or Hispanic man in his 30s. He had a moustache or goatee, a light-colored T-shirt with the word "Mexico" across his chest, dark sunglasses, dark-colored shorts, white socks, black tennis shoes and a light-colored baseball cap.

Bank of the Sierra has three Bakersfield branches, one Delano branch, two Tehachapi branches and one California City branch, according to its website.
