Bakersfield police: New officer arrested for domestic violence

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) - A new police officer was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence.

Peter Martinez, referred to as "Former Officer Martinez" in a police department news release on Thursday, was arrested Wednesday at the department headquarters on Truxtun Avenue.

The alleged crime occurred five days earlier on the 9000 block of Bremerton Court, a residential area near Centennial High School, but it was not reported until Wednesday.

Martinez had graduated from the Bakersfield Law Enforcement Training Academy on the day of the alleged offense, according to the police department.
