BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A convicted criminal was arrested Thursday for possessing 59 guns and live ammunition.

Police detectives assigned to the Financial Crimes Unit went to a home on the 2300 block of Gage Street to follow up on a check forgery case. There, detectives found 54-year-old Andrew Manuel Garcia and obtained permission to search the house.

Three of the firearms were assault weapons, police said.

Garcia was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of firearms, possession of assault weapons and felon in possession
of ammunition.
