Bakersfield Rescue Mission wants e-waste in fundraising effort

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The Bakersfield Rescue Mission will host an e-waste recycling event this weekend.

The Rescue Mission fundraiser will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the group's campus, 821 E. 21st St. in Old Town Kern.

The aim is to offer the public an option to dispose of unwanted electronic items while raising funds to benefit programs at the Rescue Mission.

"It's really a win-win," community development director Tim Calahan said in a news release.

Electronic waste that will be accepted includes: television sets, computers, cellphones, monitors, laptops, car batteries, medical equipment, VCRs, printers, digital cameras, small kitchen appliances and copy/fax machines.
