Bakersfield Oktoberfest is Oct. 4, helps therapeutic horseback riding programs

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Bakersfield Oktoberfest, promoted as "not you typical beer festival," is set for Oct. 4 at Stramler Park.

The event is designed as a fundraiser for M.A.R.E. Riding Center, according to organizers. M.A.R.E. Riding Center provides therapeutic horseback riding programs to people with physical, cognitive or emotional challenges.

Traditional Bavarian entrées and brews, local and seasonal beers, music, dance and contests are on the agenda.

General admission presale tickets are $10. Party packs are $40 and include two beer or wine tickets, gourmet meal ticket and souvenir 'Das Boot' or stein ticket.

Bakersfield Oktoberfest is scheduled for 4-10 p.m. Stramler Park is located at 3805 Chester Ave.
